Spain is a country mostly located on the Iberian Peninsula in Europe, with there also being two large archipelagoes, the Balearic Islands in the Mediterranean Sea and the Canary Islands off the African Atlantic coast. It is the only European country to have a border with an African country (Morocco) and its African territory accounts for nearly 5% of its population, mostly in the Canary Islands but also in Ceuta and Melilla.

Madrid
No city on earth is more alive than Madrid, a beguiling place whose sheer energy carries a simple message: this city really knows how to live.
Madrid is a city that has something for everyone, and you’ll feel like you belong from the very first day.
Offering world-class museums, shopping at every budget, incredible cuisine, and gorgeous architecture Madrid keeps people coming back year after year. It is a big city, but feels more like many small towns, as every neighborhood has a very distinctive character. It’s a place where people watching is fun, you can order a beer at any time of day, and it is impossible to run out of things to explore and discover.
Barcelona
Barcelona is the capital and largest city of Catalonia, as well as the second most populous municipality of Spain. The ultra-cool Spanish city of Barcelona is a magnet for young, beautiful and painfully stylish crowds, and naturally this has also made it a music festival hotspot. Is is also the home of the La Sagrada Familia by Gaudi. The most famous of Gaudí’s work, it has been in construction for more than 100 years. Gaudí was a devout Catholic and spent over 10 years working just on this project. This monument is a must see.
Basque Country
If you love mind-blowing views of endless green hills, majestic mountains washed by choppy ocean water, small cozy towns and old castles, then visiting the Basque region of Spain is exactly what you need. Located in the North of Spain, at the border of France, this “comunidad autónoma” is a very special part of the country that significantly differs from the rest of it.
Canary Islands
Rich forests, rugged cliffs, archipelago, volcanoes, tropical weather on one island, snowfall on another, my research was leading me to the conclusion that the Canary Islands would make a great holiday destination.
The lunar landscape of the Timanfaya National Park was created by a volcanic eruption that covered about a third of the island in the 1700’s. You can hike through the Fire Mountains (Mountains del fuego) and experience the heat of the dormant volcano. At the beginning of the park guides will demonstrate the power of the heat by setting a bush on fire and creating artificial geysers shooting up into the air. An interesting way to see the park is by taking a 25 minute camel ride.
