California: Explore the West Coast

C

California, a western U.S. state, stretches from the Mexican border along the Pacific for nearly 900 miles. Its terrain includes cliff-lined beaches, redwood forest, the Sierra Nevada Mountains, Central Valley farmland and the Mojave Desert.

Below are some of the intriguing West Coast cities worth visiting:

1. San Francisco

San Francisco is home to a little bit of everything. Whether you’re a first time visitor or a long-time local, San Francisco’s Golden Gates welcome all. This is the place to find out about all things San Francisco.

Whilst San Francisco is quite hilly, we found it a great city to explore by foot. It’s quite a compact place with lot’s of things to discover on every corner, and it’s a good way to get your exercise for the day. Just be sure to take appropriate clothing as the weather can change pretty quickly.

2. Los Angeles: City of Angels

Los Angeles, officially the City of Los Angeles and often known by its initials L.A., is the cultural, financial, and commercial center of Southern California. With a U.S. Census-estimated 2016 population of 3,976,322, it is the second most populous city in the United States (after New York City).

The Los Angeles Farmers Market is one of my favourite places to visit in LA. It’s a great place for people watching; you just never know when you might run into a celebrity. There are fantastic options here for cheap eating. Rodeo Drive is the place to visit without your wallet, unless of course you are really rich.

It is worth a visit just to see how the beautiful and wealthy people shop. You just never know who you might run into shopping in the ritzy designer label stores. Besides, it is a pretty nice looking street.

The Kodak Theatre is where you will come face to face with the home of the Oscars. Hollywood is the place to come for your movie crushes too.

And Venice Beach is fantastic for people watching, but just don’t stay too long or you might get sucked into a psychedelic world trapped in the hippy free love movement of the sixties.

3. San Diego

The 1200-acre urban park is San Diego’s pinnacle green space and one of the best things to do in San Diego. With international cottages, museums, theatres, gardens, sporting arenas, an organ pavilion, the zoo and more, Balboa Park invites visitors to take in the view.

Between buskers, picnic-goers, travellers, event attendees and wanderers a plenty, Balboa Park is packed with people learning, experiencing, doing and enjoying on a daily basis. and is a welcoming experience.
